The Obligatory Introduction
Hi, I'm Pherian. You may remember me from such guilds as... hmm, actually, just Renamed. I've been a member since the first month or two of ‘vanilla’, and I've been GM for the last few years.
I run the Guild with a great bunch of people, and we've decided that it's about time we created a definitive Recruitment Ad. The thing is, we don't operate like lot of other guilds: we're not looking at the class you play or your ability to do 200,000 dps on a single target. If you could do that you wouldn't be here anyway, let's be honest. Renamed is NOT a Raiding Guild, it's a Guild wot Raids. What we are more interested in, is you as a person.
Before you even consider applying, there are a few caveats (and if you don't know what that word means, you're already at a disadvantage):
You will need to be over 18.
Ideally, you'll be over 25. We love the youth of today, and we're paying your taxes as a result. However, as the vast majority of the Guild is old enough to remember when it was all fields around here and penny sweets still cost a penny, you may find yourself at a cultural disadvantage being young. Not often I can say that any more!
You will need a great sense of humour and a positive attitude.
We like people who are not backward in coming forward, but who can communicate sensibly.
You will need a grasp of the basic principles of civility, generosity and understanding.
Yes, everybody has bad days, me more than most (two children does that to a mother. Yes, I'm female, just like my toon... as is about 30% of the Guild. It could be more than that actually. I've never been great at maths) The point is, THIS IS NOT A LOOT GUILD. Yes, we do progress (and we love it) and yes we do Achievements (HOW many people doing Loremaster at the moment...? I've lost count) and yes we can stay up past midnight server if things get tricky but the fact remains... if you want DKP, other Guilds are available. Same goes for Drama. Oh, and selfishness too.
This section USED to say that Renamed expected you to commit to us when you played.
That we'd ask you to bring all your alts along, join us in Guild and not be anywhere else on another Server/s. Except, this isn't the game we play any more. With Cross Server Raiding now anyone can be with anyone else if they wish, and it doesn't affect loot outcomes at all. As long as that remains the case, we're going to say that if you want to join us as a Social Member that's great, and you can apply to raid 'casually' too. However, if we run 10 mans in the future we will require a commitment from you and we will ask politely that you don't raid with anyone else. This is how our Guild Rules have been written, and we hope you'll understand why we ask what we do.
So, if that lot hasn't put you off already, here's the deal. Below are 10 questions. Answer them all, in the best way you can, and tell us why you think we should take you on a trial. Once we've taken you, you'll know really quickly whether you're going to fit in or not. If it doesn't work for you, then please let us know! If it all goes well, you'll be fully involved in no time.
So, to the questions!
What's your favourite joke?
What's the best 5 man instance currently in game?
What has been the best show on TV over the last 25 years and why?
If you had a choice what would it be: cake or pie?
Should Blizzard put more crowd control back into dungeons?
Have you left Trade/General chat channels at any point, and if so why?
Who would you choose as the next James Bond?
What's the best change Blizzard has made to the game in the last twelve months?
Who was better: Blur or Oasis, or some random third band you may now name.
If you had to ask me one question, what would it be?
And lastly tell us a little bit about yourself.
